GPS Oct. 13 workshops: SAT and Beyond, FAFSA completion
10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Glenbard East

The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families will present The SAT Test and Beyond and a FAFSA Completion Assistance Workshop at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Glenbard East.
The SAT and Beyond will be presented from 10:30 a.m. to noon with Effi Rouse, K-12 director at the College Board and Glenbard District 87 Teaching and Learning Coordinator Ryan Goble. Continuing professional development units are available.
The SAT has replaced the ACT as the college entrance exam given to high school students in Illinois. It measures college and career readiness skills and is closely aligned to the high school curriculum. The SAT exam has undergone major changes in what is tested, and how it is scored. Juniors, sophomores and freshmen and their parents/guardians will want to attend to better understand the revised SAT.
Goble will discuss an opportunity for Glenbard juniors to attend Glenbard's free after-school 87 SAT Prep+ program from January to April 2019. This is the second year of Glenbard's 87 SAT Prep+ program.
The FAFSA Completion Assistance Workshop will begin at 10 a.m. in Glenbard East's computer lab.Participants will receive one-on-one assistance from financial aid specialists at the Illinois Assistance Corps to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form online. Please bring the following necessary documentation: 2017 federal tax returns, 2017 W2 forms and record of untaxed income and investment/asset/business value. It is helpful if students for their Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID before attending the workshop.
Assistance will be available in Spanish and English.
