Hammer Attack Leaves Victim Comatose In Glendale Heights: Cops
Police say he threw a large hammer at the victim and then caused multiple skull and face fractures.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A West Chicago man has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly bludgeoned a man and threw a "large hammer" at his head. Javier Garcia, 20, is being held on $750,000 bond in connection with the May 22 incident.
According to police, Garcia and three other people arrived at a home located on Windsor Drive and went up to the victim. Police say Garcia was about five or 10 feet away from the victim when he threw the hammer at the victim and hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious.
Garcia then allegedly got the hammer and "struck the victim multiple times," hitting him in the chest and head, according to police.

The victim, who is currently in a coma, sustained fractures to his skull and face, police say.
Garcia, who was taken into custody a short time later is now being held at DuPage County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 18.
