Ice Skating, Curling Return When Polar Plaza Opens For 2022 Season
Starting Nov. 14, crews will begin to transform part of the Crescent Boulevard lot into an ice rink for the 2022 Polar Plaza.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Part of the Crescent Boulevard parking lot will transform into a winter wonderland when the Polar Plaza returns to downtown Glen Ellyn on Nov. 25 for the 2022 season.
The plaza's opening day will feature carol singers, Santa Claus, popcorn, hot chocolate and more between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their ice skates to this free opening day celebration.
Ahead of the opening, crews will begin working to convert part of the lot into an ice rink on Nov. 14. This will require the eastern portion of the lot to be closed until after the Polar Plaza ends its season on Feb. 20.

Polar Plaza will be open daily for ice skating from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., unless it temporarily closes due to weather.
No ice skate rentals are available onsite, so visitors must bring their own skates. They can also visit or call Paul’s Shoe Service, 486 N Main St., at 630-790-1030, to inquire about purchasing skates.

Residents can also brush up on their curling skills at the plaza's curling lanes, which open Dec. 1. Hours for curling vary, so visit the park district website for more information on curling at Polar Plaza.
