'Jungle Book Ball' Raises $40K For Glen Ellyn Library Remodel

The event raised money for upcoming renovations to add a café and drive-up window to the library.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Guests at the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation's Jungle Book Ball got to step into the page's of Rudyard Kipling's famous story as they raised more than $40,000 for upcoming renovations to the library. The event, which took place in early November, included themed food and drinks, mini-golf, and a silent auction.

The auction items also helped contribute to the library's remodel. Coveted auction items included Cubs tickets, a vacation package, and fine jewelry, according to the Glen Ellyn Public Library's website.

The library plans to start its first floor remodeling project in January 2018. The upgrades will redesign the library's lobby and meeting areas to better serve residents.

One major change that will come as part of the renovation is the addition of a café and drive-up window on the library's first floor, the website states. This will allow patrons to sip coffee as they pore over their newly borrowed books.
