Justin Witte: "Warhol: The Ultimate Outsider" Free Talk Aug. 3

Free lecture is part of a series of programming aimed at enriching the WARHOL exhibition experience at the CCMA and MAC through Sept. 10

Justin Witte, curator of the Cleve Carney Museum of Art located at 425 W. Fawell on the College of DuPage campus, explores "Andy Warhol: The Ultimate Outsider" at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. This free lecture is part of a series of programming aimed at enriching the exhibition experience, including lectures by internationally renowned authors and Warhol experts.

Witte will discuss how Andy Warhol’s experience as an outsider propelled him to become one of the most famous American artists to have lived. This talk will examine Warhol’s early work as an illustrator through his later work that has underwent major critical reevaluation. Attendees can expect a thought-provoking discussion delving into Warhol's unique perspective as an "ultimate outsider" within the art world.

Witte is the Curator of the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. He was the former exhibition manager at Columbia College Chicago and has worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia.
