Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta Celebrates 25 Years In Glen Ellyn

Have you ever watched a homemade cardboard boat sink? Now's your chance.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Colorful cardboard boats will make their way across Lake Ellyn on June 30 for Glen Ellyn's 25th Annual Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta. Rowers will paddle the homemade boats — constructed from corrugated cardboard — in the hopes of making it across the lake. But half the fun is really watching the boats sink.

The Cardboard Regatta kicks off at 10 a.m. with refreshments, live minnow racing, and more. Rowers will begin the race at 12 p.m., so be sure to get there early for a front row seat.

Once the race is over, the fastest boat will get the winning prize. Award will also be given for best sink, most creative, and best team spirit.
