Lantern Walk To Light Up Lake Ellyn For Good Cause
Pick up kits to decorate your own lanterns for this Sept. 12 event, which benefits Lurie Children's Hospital.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Dozens of colorful paper lanterns will light up the shores of Lake Ellyn for the 2021 Glow in the Park Lantern Walk Sept. 12, a family-friendly event that benefits Lurie Children's Hospital.
Residents who want to take part in the lantern walk can buy a lantern kit ahead of the event at Spring Avenue Recreation Center, or can buy and personalize their own paper lantern at Lake Ellyn Park on Sept. 12. Lantern kits are $10 each (cash only) and contain a carrying stick, a paper lantern shade and an LED light. Kits are available while supplies last.
Glow in the Park Lantern Walk is free to attend and offers entertainment options for kids, including face painting, balloon twisting and live music before the walk circles Lake Ellyn at 7:15 p.m.

The 2021 Glow in the Park Lantern Walk is presented by Glen Ellyn Park District and Charlie's Corner Foundation, which honors the memory of Charlie Cavanaugh, a baby who lost his battle with herpes simplex virus type one after spending two weeks in Lurie Children's Hospital.
