Large Trash Fires Damage Building In Downtown Glen Ellyn

Fire officials say "several large trash containers" were on fire behind a building in the 500 block of Crescent Boulevard.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force is looking into the cause of a blaze that left several trash containers on fire in the 500 block of Crescent Boulevard Sunday night. The fire was first spotted behind a building around 8:30 p.m. and affected electrical services for a number of buildings in downtown Glen Ellyn, fire officials said in a press release.

One firefighter was sent to the hospital with a minor injury after the blaze, but was released shortly after being treated.

When firefighters got to the scene, they worked on putting out the flames. They were helped by fire crews from Addison, Lombard, Carol Stream, Wheaton, and York Center with searching the scene and getting proper ventilation as the fire had spread into the attic of a nearby building and caused damage to the roof.
