Local Artists Bring Italy to Glen Ellyn Restaurant
Marinella's Italian Restaurant will display a collection of paintings on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Some of the proceeds will go to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry.

For years, Wheaton residents Jim and Mary Whitmer have traveled to Italy to steal glances at places they later recreate in their paintings.
The couple's artwork provides an open door to Italy, and the two want to bring pieces of Italy to Glen Ellyn. On Saturday, Nov. 4, the couples' artwork will be on display at from 2-4 p.m.
"It's such a colorful part of the world," said Jim. "It makes the artwork an extension of the experiences we had," explained Jim.

Jim and Mary decided to feature their artwork at the family restaurant on Duane Street because it seemed like a natural fit with its charming atmosphere and southern Italian cuisine.
The Whitmers are frequent diners at Marinella's and often overhear conversations about other patrons' travels to Italy. Jim thought displaying their artwork in the restaurant would help spark conversations about the place they fell in love with 20 years ago.
