LOMBARD, IL — A Lombard man faces multiple charges after police say he groomed and "engaged in sexual acts with" an underage girl he had contacted about babysitting services, according to the Cook County State's Sheriff's Office.

Jesus Gonzalez-Rivera, 40, of the 2N100 block of Lalonde Avenue was arrested Tuesday and subsequently charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a minor, traveling to meet a child, indecent solicitation of a child and grooming.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit began an investigation into Gonzalez-Rivera after they got a complaint about him. Investigators say Gonzalez-Rivera groomed and also abused the girl sexually between August 2022 and February 2023.

According to police, Gonzalez-Rivera contacted the girl about babysitting services and then continued to chat with her via a social media app. Forensics studies of data in Gonzalez-Rivera's phone indicated that he was aware the girl was a minor, a news release from Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart's Office said.

Gonzalez-Rivera is currently being held on $200,000 bond.
