Man Accused Of Illegally Possessing Gun, Methamphetamine In Lombard

Brian Miller, 31, was charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors in connection with the Monday morning incident.

LOMBARD, IL — A Cook County man is being held without bond after he was accused of possessing an illegal gun and methamphetamines during a domestic incident in Lombard Monday morning.

Brad Miller, 31, of Evanston, was charged with felony counts of armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of methamphetamine, along with two misdemeanor counts of resisting a police officer.

Police were called to a home on Crescent Boulevard around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a domestic incident. Miller is accused of resisting the officer who entered residence, but he was arrested following a "brief struggle," according to a news release.

Officers say they found a handgun with an extended magazine laying on a couch in the home's bedroom and also found 43 grams of methamphetamine in a backpack that was left open.

“It is alleged that Mr. Miller, a convicted felon currently on parole, was illegally in possession of a handgun with an extended magazine, as well as more than 40 grams of methamphetamine,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “The law is very clear, as a convicted felon Mr. Miller is prohibited from ever owning a firearm again and there is absolutely no justification that would allow him to do so, as alleged in this case."

Miller is currently being held in DuPage County Jail without bond. He is slated to appear in cour again Aug. 8.
