Man Charged in Overdose Death of Glenbard South Foreign Exchange Student

Francis Emanuele is being held on a $1 million bond following his arrest Tuesday.

GLEN ELLYN, IL - A 36-year-old man has been charged with drug-induced homicide in connection with the overdose death of a 15-year-old Glenbard South High School student.

Francis Emanuele is accused of providing the drugs that lead to the girl’s death this past spring. Glen Ellyn police were called in May to the home of the girl, who was a foreign exchange student, where they found the girl unresponsive and also found a methadone prescription bottle, according to the Daily Herald.

The girl’s phone also contained hundreds of text messages exchanged between Emanuele and the girl, which included suggestive messages and nude photos, the Daily Herald reports.

Emanuele remained in custody Wednesday on a $1 million bond, according to online jail records. He is charged with drug-induced homicide, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, indecent solicitation of a child-aggravated criminal sexual abuse, grooming and possession of child pornography.
