Microbrewery, Restaurant Could Open in Former Schmid Store
A longtime suburban restaurateur is hoping to open the microbrewery and restaurant this fall.

The former location of the family-owned Schmid store in downtown Glen Ellyn could soon become the site of a new microbrewery and restaurant, the Daily Herald reports. Long-time restaurateur Jon With, who also owns Gammon Coach House in Batavia, said he is hoping to open this fall -- as long as everything goes through with the sale of the building and his new business receives necessary from he village.
The Schmid store at 486 Pennsylvania Ave. closed in 2011 after 44 years in Glen Ellyn.
With said his new microbrewery and restaurant would plan to have up 12 beers brewed on site, would serve a “farm-to-table” menu and would be focused on serving “great craft cocktails,” according to the Daily Herald.
