New Chocolate Shop Coming to Downtown Glen Ellyn

Demolition has begun at 530 Pennsylvania Ave for Chocolaterie Stam, according to a village of Glen Ellyn Economic Development update.

Owner lizabeth Mager presented her concept to the Architectural Review Commission and the Village Board in January and received approval for the project, village officials said. Mager purchased the building in 2015 and is working to bring in a new retailer to accompany her chocolate shop in the newly designed space.

Current tenants Cheveux Salon & Day Spa and Coldwell Banker will also remain in the building.

One of the main changes to the building would include pushing the front facade back to allow for outdoor seating, Suburban Life Publications reports. The Chocolaterie Stem, which has other locations in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois, would be the first of its kind in the Chicago area.
