GLEN ELLYN, IL — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday after they were hit by a train near Glen Ellyn, officials say. The victim was identified as Sheree Hacker, 67, of Wheaton, DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen told Patch.

The fatal train vs. pedestrian crash, which took place before 1 p.m., halted Union Pacific West (UPW) service and blocked all three crossings in the village, according to Twitter updates from Metra and the Glen Ellyn Police Department. A spokesperson for Metra told Patch nine UPW trains were canceled and 19 other trains were delayed. Two trains were delayed by close to four hours.

College Avenue was also closed in Wheaton between Hill Avenue and Wilmette in the wake of the crash.
