Police Urge Caution After Glen Ellyn Home Burglaries

The recent burglaries occurred during overnight hours when residents were inside and asleep.

GLEN ELLYN, IL - The Glen Ellyn Police Department is investigating several home burglaries that have occurring on the north side of the village.

The home burglaries mainly occurred along the Geneva Road corridor between Main Street and Western Avenue, according to police.

When doors to the homes were left unlocked, burglars entered and removed small electronics, according to a Glen Ellyn Police Department press release. The burglaries occurred during overnight hours when residents were inside and asleep. The burglars also entered unlocked vehicles.

Police are encouraging residents to lock the doors to their homes. In addition, cars should be locked and items of value should be removed from view.

Police are also reminding residents to lock door inside your garage that leads to your home. There have been some cases where burglars have been able to use the garage door opener in an outside vehicle to get into the garage and then the home.
