Pummel Old Jack-O'-Lanterns At Pumpkin Smash In Glen Ellyn
Residents can bring baseball bats and shovels to sustainably smash old pumpkins at Glen Ellyn Park District's Pumpkin Smash.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Halloween has come and gone, so now it's time to figure out what to do with that quickly deteriorating old jack-o'-lantern. Grab a baseball bat and a shovel and head to Glen Ellyn Park District's Pumpkin Smash Saturday for a fun and sustainable way to dispose of those old gourds.
Residents can go to Village Green Park, 130 S. Lambert Rd. from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to simply drop off their gourds or stick around to smash and chop their Halloween pumpkins. Candles, lights and other decorations should be removed from the jack-o'-lantern. Painted pumpkins will not be accepted.
Those who are interested in volunteering to help with drop-off, cleanup and more can email Renae at rfrigo@gepark.org.
