Pumpkin Composting, Specialty Recycling Available Nov. 5 In Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Residents can drop off their pumpkins for composting and other specialty items for recycling at an event hosted by the Glen Ellyn Park District and the village's environmental commission on Nov. 5.
Free Pumpkin Composting
Glen Ellyn's Pumpkin Smash will be held at this Nov. 5 event. To ensure your pumpkin is set to be composted, remove any candles and extra decorations that are affixed to it. Sprayed pumpkins will not be eligible for recycling.

- Cleaned styrofoam containers
- Clothes, shoes, purses and other textiles
- Protective styrofoam packaging
Items to Recycle with Fees
Fees will apply to aerosol products, batteries, latex paint and other items that are hazardous, including:
- Asthma inhalers
- Cooking sprays and oils
- Insectiicides
- Hairspray
- Household batteries
- Household cleaners
- Spray paint
