Rare Frida Kahlo Collection Coming To College Of DuPage

The collection will feature 26 rare paintings and illustrations from throughout the famous artists's life.

GLEN ELLYN, IL --- College of DuPage has garnered a lot of attention after officials recently announced that the school will host the largest private collection of Frida Kahlo artwork in 2020. The collection, which consists of 26 exclusive illustrations and paintings from Museo Dolores, will be on display at the Cleve Carney Art Gallery from June 2020 until August 2020.

Justin Witte, who works as director of Cleve Carney Art Gallery, said in a press release that the collection delves deeply into Kahlo's "personal narrative" by way of "a full arc tied into her person [that] covers her accident, which is when she started to create self-portraits.”

McAninch Arts Center Director Diana Martinez added that the collection will feature rare works that have not been seen in or near Chicago.
