Recreational Pot Up For Discussion In Glen Ellyn

Do you think recreational marijuana should be sold in Glen Ellyn?

GLEN ELLYN, IL - Glen Ellyn residents will have a chance to weigh in on recreational marijuana sales at an upcoming workshop meeting. The Aug. 19 meeting is planned as a workshop and village officials say no legislative decisions will be made at that time.

The meeting comes after Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker signed a law allowing the sale of recreational cannabis effective Jan. 1, 2020. According to the law, the village is unable to prevent the use of recreational cannabis outright, but can prohibit sales if it chooses.

Nearby Naperville and Wheaton have already taken initial steps to prohibit businesses that sell recreational marijuana within their limits.
