Resident Loses Thousands In Craigslist Scam: Glen Ellyn Police
They posted an item on Craigslist and were scammed out of more than $2,000.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Police in Glen Ellyn are investigating an incident in which a resident was scammed out of more than $2,500 in a transaction on Craigslist. During the incident, which took place on Jan. 22, the suspect asked the resident to deposit a check and then send funds electronically.
According to police, the victim posted an item on Craigslist and received a check from the would-be buyer that was much larger than the price of the item. The suspect then asked the victim to deposit the check and send the extra funds back electronically.
The check was later returned as fraudulent and the resident was unable to retrieve the money sent electronically, according to police.

Police say the total loss was $2,520.
