Armed Home Invasion Reported In Wheaton: Cops
Police say one of two men forced his way into a home in the 1700 block of east Evergreen Street.
WHEATON, IL — Wheaton police are urging residents to stay vigilant after an armed home invasion was reported in the 1700 block of east Evergreen Street Sunday. A resident told police that they went outside around 5 a.m. to investigate suspicious activity and were forced back into the home by one of two men, the other of whom was armed with a gun.
Police say one of the suspects attacked and injured one resident. Another resident intervened and both suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan. The injuries sustained by the resident were not thought to be life-threatening, according to a social media post from Wheaton city officials.
Residents who live in the area are encouraged to check their video security systems for any footage that could help police identify the suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Lieutenant Bill Cooley at 630-260-2077 or Detective Ed Waterous at 630-260-2060.
