Shopping Cart Brigade Raises Awareness and Donations for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry
New partnerships and the dedication of numerous volunteers resulted in a successful collection for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry 4th of July.

New partnerships and the dedication of numerous volunteers resulted in a successful collection for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry during this year’s Fourth of July Parade. The Brigade collected 145 bags of food, a 20% increase over last year. In addition to the donations, the Brigade helped to raise awareness of the continuing hunger problem within our own community. In the past year alone the Food Pantry has seen a 50% increase in demand and is always in need of food and monetary donations.
The Brigade was composed of members from OneChurch, a partnership of local faith communities dedicated to serving those in need. Participating churches included Grace Lutheran, St. Mark’s Episcopal, Faith Lutheran, St. Petronille Catholic, First Presbyterian and St. Luke Lutheran. The Brigade was supported by publicity efforts of the Glen Ellyn Public Library and Trader Joe’s.
