St. James Catholic School Celebrates 50 Years in Glen Ellyn

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at the school.

GLEN ELLYN, IL - St. James the Apostle Catholic School will celebrate 50 years in Glen Ellyn with a ribbon-cutting ceremony sponsored by the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce at noon on Friday, Aug. 26, according to a news release.

When St. James School first opened its doors in 1966, the doors actually weren’t quite ready – so Montini Catholic High School housed these students for the first school year. St. James School has served the community in countless ways over the years – the students have done lawn work for elderly residents, donated thousands of pounds of food to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, visited sick children at Almost Home, held drives benefitting the poor, suffering and forgotten, according to the news release.

St. James School, located at 490 S. Park Boulevard, operates in the Diocese of Joliet and serves children in preschool through 8th grade. Mary Kathryn Warco is the principal.
