String Of Burglaries Leads Glen Ellyn Police To Issue Warning
After a "sharp increase in vehicle burglaries," Glen Ellyn Police want residents to take extra precautions.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — After a string of recent car burglaries, Glen Ellyn Police are warning residents to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles. The Glen Ellyn Police Department issued a statement Wednesday after a dramatic spike in vehicle burglaries and thefts.
According to police, thieves have been searching for unlocked vehicles and ransacking the cars, removing any valuables and cash they can find. Police say that nearly two dozen vehicles have been stolen in the past two weeks because the owner left their keys inside the automobile. Other nearby suburbs have also reported an increase in car burglaries and thefts.
Police advise residents to lock their vehicles at night and to keep valuables out of plain sight. They also note that these crimes have been taking place after dark, adding that leaving an outside light on might serve to scare away thieves.
