String of Car Burglaries Continues In Glen Ellyn: Police

Glen Ellyn Police reported more than half a dozen car burglaries between Sept. 10 and 17. Most of the cars had been unlocked.

GLEN, ELLYN, IL --- Dozens of car burglaries have plagued Glen Ellyn police throughout the summer, most recently with more than half a dozen burglaries taking place during the span of a few days. The burglars have been targeting unlocked vehicles in most of the reported cases. These are the most recent reported vehicle burglaries in Glen Ellyn.

* Between Sept. 11 at 9:45 p.m. and Sept. 12 at 7:34 a.m., someone entered two unlocked cars in the first block of Main St. The offender(s) rifled through the vehicles, but nothing was reported missing. The victim told police that someone had moved two window screens on their home's exterior.

* Sometime between 8 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 7:34 a.m. on Sept. 12, suspect(s) reportedly removed a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses after entering two unlocked vehicles in the first block of Main Street.

* Suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of Wilson sometime between Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. They removed an iPad Air 2, beer, cigarettes, and $10 in cash.

* Sometime between Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. and Sept. 17 at 8 a.m., unknown offender(s) entered two vehicles, removing a Dell laptop, Ray Ban sunglasses, and two spare keys.

* Sept. 17 at approximately 3:25 a.m. suspect(s) entered a car in the 100 block of Brandon and removed two credit cards, $50 cash, and approximately $225 worth of various gift cards.

* Between Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and Sept. 16 at 2:20 a.m., police say suspect(s) entered an unlocked car and took between $5 and $10 in cash.
