Student Music Groups Perform in October at College of DuPage

The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage is hosting several concerts featuring students and community members in October. All performances will take place in the MAC’s Belushi Performance Hall on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
College of DuPage student music ensembles will present an evening of music during the semester’s first student concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9. Performing groups include Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Small Group Jazz. The program includes Mitchell Peters “A La Samba,” Bobby Womack “Breezin’,” Jussi Chydenius “Autumn” Johann Gottlieb Naumann “Dixit Dominus,” George Frideric Handel “Passacaglia in G minor,” and music by Herbie Hancock, Scott Joplin, Aram Khachaturian, Sarah Quartel, Sting and Joe Zawinaul.
The DuPage Community Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. The band will perform a variety of classical and contemporary symphonic music, including Gabriel Musella “Don Ricardo,” Michael Sweeney “Villages,” Alfred Reed “The Hounds of Spring,” John P. Sousa “Semper Fidelis” and Frank Ticheli “Acadiana.” In addition, the program will include music by Benjamin Britten, Todd Stalter and John Williams.

The DuPage Community Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of dance music, including jazz standards, ballads, fox trots, Latin tunes and more at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. The performance will include cabaret seating and a dance floor for attendees to join in on the fun. Free swing dance lessons will be offered preceding the event at 2:30 p.m. Tickets to each of these three events are $7 each.
