Sunset Pool Closes Early This Season To Accommodate Upgrades
Crews are set to start making upgrades and additions before the end of summer 2023.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Sunset Pool may have to close early for the 2023 season, but when it reopens next year, it will have several new amenities. The Aug. 13 closure will allow crews to start work on upgrades that include new water slides, a splash pad and more.
The pool's new features are part of the work covered by the Glen Ellyn Park District's $15.9 million bond referendum, which got the go-ahead from voters in June 2022. Other amenities will include a seating and changing area and a water play area with zero-depth entry.
In an update, park district officials wrote that pool's early closure in 2023 will provide "the best opportunity for the pool to open for Memorial Day weekend 2024."
