Third-Annual BBQ Competition Pulls in $19,000
The event raised funds for DuPage County families in need.

This year’s Glen Ellyn Backyard Barbecue Cook Off was a little sweeter.
The one-day event pulled in $19,000 for Bridge Communities, a group committed to helping DuPage County families in need.
More than 1,000 individuals attended the Sept. 10th event and competitors from all over the Chicago land area came to participate in the cook off. The $19,000 generated from the event with help homeless families transition into more permanent and stable housing.
The event started off as a friendly competition between neighbors on Willis Street but it quickly grew in popularity and moved to downtown Glen Ellyn for the first time this year. In its third year, the event attracted bands to entertain the growing crowd.
There were multiple categories in this year’s competition--best ribs, best dish, showmanship, and for the first time a bags competition.
