Two Injured in Small Explosion, Fire on Farnsworth Court
The exact cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation.

Two Glen Ellyn residents suffered burn injuries following a small explosion Monday morning at a home on Farnsworth Court.
The explosion occurred while a resident of the home was “servicing a gas-fed appliance,” according to a Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company press release. The explosion sparked a small fire in the laundry room.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10 a.m. and were able to contain the blaze to the laundry room.

Two people were injured in the incident. A 60-year-old man suffered burns to his extremities and was taken to Loyola Medical Center while a 23-year-old woman suffered burns and was taken to Central DuPage Hospital. Several other homes in the same building as the blaze sustained smoke damage but no one else was injured.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. A damage estimate is currently unavailable.

Several area fire department responded to the blaze and Nicor Gas was also on the scene to provide assistance.
