Unlimited Trash Pickup Day Coming In April In Glen Ellyn

Start your spring cleaning now; unlimited refuse collection day is coming soon to Glen Ellyn.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents will be able to get some serious spring cleaning done in anticipation of the village's unlimited trash pickup day. During the week of Monday, April 13, Groot Industries will offer unlimited trash pickup for residents within the boundaries of Glen Ellyn.

Items eligible for collection includes household furniture, appliances, disassembled swing sets, tires that are off their rims and more.

In order to ensure that your items get picked up, make sure to have them out on the curb by 7 a.m. April 13. The village notes that it will take a few days for all the refuse to be collected.

Trash items must be bagged or bundled in order to be picked up, unless it's a large item. Mattresses need to be folded in half and taped to be collected.

The following items will not be accepted for unlimited pickup:

  • Concrete bricks, broken glass, and stone if not in containers
  • Electronics
  • Fencing that is not in a container
  • Hazardous household waste
  • Liquids
  • Refuse from outside village
  • Utility sinks and tubs
  • Yard waste

Homeowners are asked to keep recyclables and refuse separate or to group items separately on the curb. Multi-family buildings and commercial buildings are not eligible to take part in unlimited refuse collection, but townhome residents are, according to village officials.
