During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Pritzker issued a Disaster Proclamation which waived a portion of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (OMA) to allow local governments and other public bodies to hold remote meetings to help control the spread of COVID-19. With the latest Disaster Proclamation signed on July 23, the Governor did not extend the prior executive order that relaxed in-person meeting requirements. Therefore, public bodies are expected to now hold in-person meetings exclusively. The Village of Glen Ellyn will adhere to pre-pandemic OMA requirements for in-person meetings. This includes the following: Village Board Meetings The Village Board will be returning to in-person Board meetings, with the public invited to attend. Regular Village Board Meetings are typically held the 2nd and 4th Monday’s of the month. The next Village Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 26, 7 p.m. at the Civic Center, 535 Duane Street, 3rd Floor Galligan Board Room. Please note, a Zoom option for Board Meetings will not be available. Additional public engagement opportunities include: Live Stream: Village Board Meetings will continue to be live streamed via the Village’s website. Cable Channel Broadcast: Village Board Meetings will continue to be broadcast to WideOpenWest Channel 6, AT&T Channel 99 and Comcast Cable Services Channel 10.
Public Comment: If you are unable to attend a Village Board Meeting, you are welcome to submit a public comment electronically. Please complete the public comment form, located on the Village’s website. All public comments submitted, prior to and throughout the meeting, will be read into the official record. Village Board Workshop Meetings The Village Board will also be returning to in-person Workshop meetings, with the public invited to attend. Village Board Workshop meetings are typically held the 3rd Monday of each month. The next Village Board Workshop is scheduled for Monday, August 9, 7 p.m. This meeting is anticipated to be held at the Police Station Community Room, located at 65 S. Park Boulevard. Workshop meetings may be periodically held at other public facilities, aside from the Civic Center. Locations for Workshop meetings will be noted on the meeting agenda. Please note, a Zoom option will not be available for Workshop meetings. Additionally, Workshop meetings will resume pre-pandemic format and will not be live streamed or broadcast to the Village’s cable channel.
