A 32-year-old West Chicago man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in 2013.
Javier Rocha-Sosa entered blind guilty pleas Monday afternoon to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.
He is accused of sexually assaulting the girl, who was 12 years old at the time, at her home during the evening hours while her mom was at work, according to a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office press release. The sexual assaults began in the summer of 2013.

The girl’s mother walked in on Rocha-Sosa, who was a friend of the girl’s family, sexually assaulting her daughter, prosecutors said. The mother called to report the situation to police.
Rocha-Sosa returned to their home the following day to talk with the girl and the mother. The mother called police and he was later taken into custody, according to the news release.

He has remained in custody since on a $500,000 bond.
“At the tender age of twelve, this young victim was repeatedly subjected to sexual assaults by a man she and her mother considered a family friend,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “Throughout the investigation however, the strength and courage she has displayed are nothing short of remarkable for such a young girl. She has been through a great deal and I sincerely hope that she will recover fully from the emotional and physical harm Mr. Rocha-Sosa inflicted upon her.”
Rocha-Sosa will be required to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
