Wheaton Boy Scout Awarded Highest Rank in Scouting
Congrats to Benjamin Cary of Wheaton!
In ceremonies this past week, Boy Scout Troop 575 awarded the Eagle rank, scouting's highest rank, to Benjamin Cary of Wheaton.
He is the 44th scout from the Troop to be awarded the rank. Ceremonies were held at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton.
As part of the award ceremony, Ben received letters of congratulations from President Barack Obama, former President George W. Bush, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service. Ben also received a special community service award from the DuPage County Marine Corps League.
The Eagle rank is the highest rank in Boy Scouts. Nationally, only 4% of Boy Scouts achieve this rank.
For his Eagle Project, Ben led scouts in repairing and refurbishing rain drainage tracks at Gary United Methodist Church.
Ben is a Senior at Wheaton North High School and plans to major in finance and accounting at Miami University of Ohio. Ben joined Boy Scout Troop 575 in 2007 from Cub Scout Pack 317.
