Where To Compost Pumpkins In Glen Ellyn

Head to St. Mark's Church or the SCARCE headquarters on Nov. 3 for a free pumpkin composting event.

GLEN ELLYN, IL --- Once Halloween is over, one of the scariest sights you'll encounter will probably be any days-old Jack-o-Lanterns that are still hanging around. Luckily, Glen Ellyn residents can compost their pumpkins at the annual Pumpkin Smash composting event hosted by SCARCE on Nov.3.

Residents can bring their pumpkins to St. Mark's Church or the SCARCE headquarters from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for free composting. If you're planning on composting your pumpkin, be sure to remove candles and any artificial adornments before bringing it to the Pumpkin Smash.

The composted pumpkins will help reduce landfill waste and naturally fertilize plants and soil, according to the Pumpkin Smash event page on SCARCE. SCARCE is a DuPage County-based non-profit that fosters eco-conscious initiatives throughout the community.
