$19,000 Furniture Heist; Dead Bird Thrown; Ruse Burglars: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Glenview Police Department blotter from Oct. 24 to Oct. 30.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 700 block of Glendale Drive reported that someone entered an unlocked Range Rover while it was parked in their driveway around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 23. The resident heard someone open their garage door, and when they checked it out they found someone had stolen a garage door opener.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 700 block of Glenayre Drive reported around 6 a.m. on Oct. 23 that someone had stolen their unlocked Honda with a key fob inside after getting into into an attached garage through an open overhead door. A wallet, cash, clothes and various credit cards were stolen along with the car, which was last seen on the morning of Oct. 22. Around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, someone used one of the stolen credit cards at a Skokie gas station.

STORAGE BURGLARY
Someone stole $10,000 worth of construction tools from a storage unit at a facility in the 700 block of Milwaukee Avenue between Sept. 1 and Oct. 1.
'RUSE' HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 3000 block of Dell Place reported that shortly before 5 p.m. on Oct. 23 they were working in their driveway when an SUV pulled up with two men inside. One of the men got out and convinced the resident to go into their backyard with the pretext that he wanted to discuss lot lines. While they spoke in the backyard, the resident heard the scream of a family member coming from inside the house. Returning to the front of the house, the resident noticed a second man getting into the SUV and driving away, while the man who went into the backyard could not be located. The resident inside said they screamed because they heard someone talking inside their house who was not their family member. The burglars made off with a safe containing various pieces of jewelry for a loss of $1,800.

CRIMINAL TRESPASSING/DEAD BIRD
A resident in the 1500 block of Topp Lane reported around 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 23 they noticed someone standing outside on their deck. When the resident approached, the person left the deck and could not be seen. The resident then saw a bird hit the window and land lifeless on the deck. The resident believes the bird was already dead, and that whoever was on their deck threw it at the window.
THEFT
A guest at a hotel in the 2600 block of Lehigh Avenue reported that someone had somehow gotten into their room and stole a wallet between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 24. A stolen credit card was used later that day to make an unauthorized purchase at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road.
CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
Officers responded to call around 8 p.m. on Oct. 24 that a man was taking a tire from a storage bin of a business in the 2000 block of Waukegan Road. The man got into a white van and drove away when confronted.
RAZOR THEFT
An employee of a store in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported that two men were seen filling up two or three plastic bags with about $500 worth of razor blades and walking out without paying around 9 p.m. on Oct. 24.
RETAIL THEFT ATTEMPT
A store employee in the 2300 block of Capital Drive noticed a male shoplifting suspect leaving the store around 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 25. When the staffer called out to him, he fled and dropped $829 worth of over-the-counter merchandise on his way out.
CLOTHING THEFT
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive that a man and woman came into the store around 11 a.m. on Oct. 25, took $1,000 worth of various pieces of Nike clothing from the racks and ran out of the store without paying.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
An employee of a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported on Oct. 26 that someone had stolen both side mirrors from a Hyundai Santa Fe parked at the business sometime in mid-October, causing $1,200 in damage.
BAD CHECK
An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road reported on Oct. 26 that a customer had paid for services with a personal check on Oct. 2 that later bounced for a loss of $80.
LUGGAGE THEFT
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Ave. reported a man stole a piece of luggage from the store worth $150 around 3 p.m. on Oct. 26.
HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPT
A resident in the 700 block of Carriage Hill Drive reported someone tried to break into to their home by prying open a front door with some kind of tool between 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 at and noon on Oct. 27. Although a burglar did not make it inside, there was about $200 in damage to the doorbell and door frame.
WALLET THEFT
A shopper at a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported someone stole their wallet from a shopping cart between 2 and 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. The wallet was later found in an isle of the store missing $60.
FURNITURE HEIST
Someone broke into a business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue between 4 p.m. on Oct. 28 and 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 29. The owner discovered the back door left partially open and a large amount of furniture missing, including four Italian leather sofa sets worth about $4,800, 150 children's chairs and 50 children's tables and shelves worth $12,000, four metal filing cabinets containing paperwork and about $2,300 in cash.
VEHICULAR TRESPASSING
A resident in the 1400 block of Limar Lane reported on the afternoon of Oct. 29 that someone got into their unlocked Toyota and ransacked the interior during the overnight hours of Oct. 28 to Oct. 29. Nothing appeared to be missing but the glove compartment and center console had been opened and searched.
TIP THEFT
An employee at a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported around 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 that someone had stolen the tip container from the front counter between 5 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 for a loss of about $20.
ARRESTS
Saul Valenvia-Bonilla, 44, of the 1400 block of Plymouth Place in Glenview, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the 1500 block of Plymouth Place and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police investigated a suspicious vehicle. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol.
An 18-year-old Berwyn man was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and charged with speeding more than 35 mph above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road. He was also issued a citation for driving with an uninsured motor vehicle.
Mathew Laird, 32, of the 3900 block of Triumvera Drive in Glenview, was arrested around 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 23 at his home and charged with three counts related to child pornography and two counts of criminal sexual assault. Read more...
Noelle Allen, 49, of the 100 block of Arlene Court in Wheeling, was arrested around 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 24 in the 2300 block of Capital Drive on an active McHenry County warrant for retail theft following an investigation into another retail theft in the 2300 block of Capital Drive.
Anne Hughes, 53, of the 900 block of Meadowlark Lane in Glenview, was arrested around 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 24 at her home and charged with domestic battery.
Rocio Marquez, 47, of the 3800 block of West 58th Place in Chicago, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the Glenview Police Department and charged with retail theft following an investigation into an Oct. 5 theft at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.
Isaliz Tebar, 21, of the 5200 block of West Irving Park Road in Chicago, was arrested around 4:18 p.m. on Oct. 27 and charged with domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence following an investigation into an incident at a motel in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
A 27-year-old Evanston man was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Waukegan Road. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Rimma Likover, 33, of the 1100 block of Castilian Court, was arrested in the 1900 block of Tower Drive around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 and charged with retail theft following an investigation into the switching of price-tags at the Von Mauer at the Glen Town Center.
A 27-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested around 8:45 p.m on Oct. 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Central Road. He was also issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of under 10 grams of cannabis.
