GLENVIEW, IL — The first Glenview youth police academy — a hands-on, interactive experience designed to give young community members an inside look at law enforcement — is set to launch.

This three-day program, held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 29, 30 and 31, is open to youth between the ages of 12 and 15. According to the Glenview Police Department, the program offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of policing through fun, hands-on activities and real-life scenarios.
Participants will receive instruction and experience in:

  • Evidence processing and crime scene techniques
  • Conducting mock traffic stops
  • Patrol functions and procedures
  • A guided tour of the Police Department and 9-1-1 Dispatch Center
