2 Vehicles Stolen, 1 Recovered; Car Burglars Confronted: Blotter

Glenview Police Blotter: June 6 - 12

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations. Everyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
The owner of a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported on June 5 that someone had stolen $720 in cash from metal boxes at some point. Several different people, including outside contractors had access to the cash, and it was not known when the theft occurred

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Cambria Court reported on June 6 that someone stole a passport after getting into an unlocked vehicle parked on the street in front of their home between June 5 and 6. The passport was soon found discarded in some nearby bushes.

THEFT
A citizen reported on June 6 that their Trek bicycle worth $300 had been stolen while it was left unlocked and unattended in the 1300 block of Glenview Road around 3 p.m. on June 6.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported that two women or girls had stolen two boxes of diapers worth $70 around 3:20 p.m. on June 6. They were reportedly last seen leaving the area in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

ATTEMPTED CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 3000 block of Landwehr Road reported seeing a man rummaging through their unlocked van while it was parked in their driveway shortly after 10 p.m. on June 6. After being confronted, the man apologized and told the resident he was just hungry before walking away.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Cambria Court reported on June 7 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car while it was parked in a driveway. The car was ransacked, with clothes and items from inside the car left laying on the group. It was not immediately known what was taken.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 600 block of Raleigh Road reported on June 9 that someone entered an unlocked car parked at their home between 10:30 p.m. on June 8 and 7:30 a.m. on June 9. The contents of the glovebox were reportedly dumped on the floorboard, with the only missing items a garage door opener which was subsequently found in a neighboring yard.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 800 block of Surrey Lane reported on June 9 someone entered an unlocked car and stole about $5 in change between 10:30 on June 8 and 9:04 a.m. on June 9.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 900 block of Raleigh Road reported on June 9 that someone had entered their unlocked car while it was parked at their home between 8 a.m. on June 8 and 10:22 a.m. on June 9, taking about $5 in change.

CAR BURGLARY/CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident in the 700 block of Raleigh Road reported on June 9 that someone had gotten into a parked unlocked car between 11 p.m. on June 8 and 7:39 a.m. on June 9. A wallet and its contents were stolen, and credit cards taken in the burglary were later used at a Harvey gas station and at an unknown location in Riverdale. The wallet itself was found in the road near the site of the burglary. The loss from the use of the credit cards was not known.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee at a business in the 1300 block of Glenview Road reported on June 9 that someone had damaged their landscaping between 8 p.m. on June 8 and noon on June 9 for an estimated loss of $1,900.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident in the 600 block of Huber Lane reported on June 9 at 1:45 a.m. that three men or boys were spotted ringing the door bell and knocking on the door to their home. The trio took off running when the home’s exterior lights were turned on. Nothing was reported damaged or disturbed.

THEFT
A pickpocket snatched the wallet of a shopper in the the 1400 block of Waukegan Road when someone stole their wallet from their purse as they shopped between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. on June 9 for a reported loss of $130.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole an unlocked Lexus with the key fob left inside from the the 3800 block of Timbers Edge and burglarized a Toyota pickup between 9 p.m. on June 10 and 7:15 a.m. on June 11. A wallet and its contents, a firearm owners identification card and $900 in cash were reported stolen. The total loss was about $100,000.

STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 3700 block of Timbers Edge reported on June 11 that someone stole a Lexus that had been left unlocked with a key fob inside parked in front of their home between 9 p.m. on June 10 and 7:45 a.m. on June 11. Stolen inside the vehicle was $5,000 in cash, a wallet, a firearm owners identification card, a cell phone and sunglasses. The car was later found abandoned in the 10000 block of South Oglesby Avenue in Chicago. Not counting the car, the total reported loss was $6,300.

THEFT
A resident in the 2400 block of Bel Air Drive reported on June 11 that someone had stolen $100 and four rings from a lockbox inside a home sometime during the past year. The reported loss was estimated at $9,100.

ATTEMPTED CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 800 block of Harms Rd. reported around 1 a.m. on June 12 that as they got home they noticed two men or boys in their driveway. One was standing in the driveway near a parked car, while the other was inside the vehicle. When the duo was confronted they left west into the forest preserve. Police were told nothing appeared to have been stolen and it was not known how they got into the car.


ARRESTS

A 22-year-old Morton Grove man was arrested at 10:56 on June 4 and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and registration suspended for no insurance following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Harlem Avenue.

Raevon Brown, 41, of the 3500 block of Central Road in Glenview, was arrested at 12:12 p.m. on June 5 and charged with battery in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Elvis Premti, 37, of the 1200 block of River Road in Prospect Heights, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. on June 5 in the 1300 block of Patrior Boulevard and charged with retail theft. he also had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Northbrook police in connection with a charge of retail theft.

Patryk Malinowski, 35, of the 200 block of Glendale Road was arrested at the police station on 4:25 p.m. on June 6 and charged with domestic battery and interfering with reporting of domestic violence following an investigation into an incident at his home.

Wang Chao, 34, of the 2200 block of Post Road in Northbrook, was arrested at 12:10 p.m. on June 7 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid or information and failure to yield turning left after a crash investigation in the 3800 block of Willow Road.

Guy Cabrol, 30, of the 6100 block of Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 7:34 a.m. on June 8 on a Cook County warrant for failing to appear in court.
