3 Cars Stolen, 1 Found; No Charges In Road Rage Incident: Blotter
Evanston man arrested by Skokie police charged with Glenview crime; store, restaurant staff battered, threatened: GPD Blotter Jan. 30–Feb. 5

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A women claiming to work for the Social Security Administration in Texas convinced a Glenview resident to provide their social security number over the phone on Jan. 24, police were told on Jan. 29.
ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
Someone sent anonymous text messages to a Glenview resident containing threats to injure and extort them, police were told Jan. 29.

LOCKER ROOM THEFTS
Two patrons of the 3800 block of Willow Road reported on Jan. 29 that someone had stolen items from an unlocked locker between 2 and 3:15 p.m. In one case, credit cards and clothing was also taken, but nothing looked out of the ordinary in the vehicle. The clothes were found intact in a locker room bathroom stall. In the other, someone stole a key fob and appeared to have rummaged through its vehicle.
FORGERY
A pharmacy employee in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported on Jan. 30 that a man had called 10 days earlier and tried to fill a fraudulent prescription for Phenergan-Codeine. Employees never filled it and no one showed up to attempt to pick it up.

THREATS
An employee of a store in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported on Jan. 31 that two men came into the store and were seen pulling price tags off of merchandise shortly before 5 p.m. on Jan. 28. The employee confronted the men, who threatened to batter the staffer and eventually left the store without any problems.
BATTERY
An employee of a restaurant in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 9 p.m. on Jan. 31 that there were three male patrons who had previously caused problems and one of them had grabbed the employee's arm after they had been asked to leave. Officers notified the men they had been banned from the restaurant and risked a trespassing arrest should they return.
SHOPLIFTING
An employee of a business in the 2400 block of Glenview Road reported at 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 1 that a man had just stolen two cans of tobacco worth about $10.
STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole a Mercedes-Benz AMG that had been left at the North Glen Metra train station from 8 a.m. to 6:11 p.m. with the doors unlocked and a key in the center console. Data from the sports car's tracking system showed it was driven around Des Plaines and Chicago. It was found abandoned on Feb. 3 in the 1100 block of East 73rd Street in Chicago.
- Someone stole a Honda minivan parked in a driveway in the 1300 block of Pendleton Lane between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 3. A Hyundai also parked in the driveway had been ransacked and left with its door slightly open. Police were not aware how a thief got into the cars or managed to start the Honda at the time of the report. Credit cards stolen with the minivan were later used at a McDonald's and a gas station in Chicago.
- A resident of the 1500 block of Kaywood Lane reported that someone had stolen a Ford SUV between 1 and 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 after it had been left unlocked in the driveway with a key inside. A wallet, credit cards, $250 in cash and a laptop were also stolen with the vehicle.
BATTERY
Police were called to the 3800 block of Rugen Road for a report of a road rage argument at the intersection of Willow Road and Patriot Boulevard. During the incident, police were told a male driver cut off a female driver. After exchanging "words and gestures," both drivers stopped their cars. The female driver told police the other driver pushed her, while the male driver accused her of putting her finger in his face. Neither driver wished to press charges and police did not take any further action.
RETAIL THEFT
Two male shoplifters stole several bottles of alcohol off the shelves of a store in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road between 11:05 and 11:40 p.m. on Feb. 1. The amount of loss was not known at the time of the report.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone scratched the side of a GMC Acadia parked at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road between 8:15 and 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 2 using an unknown object.
CAR BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 1400 block of Kaywood Lane reported that someone burglarized an unlocked Hyundai parked in a driveway between 6 p.m. on Feb. 2 and 10 a.m. on Feb. 3. The car had been rummaged through but nothing appeared to have been taken.
- A resident of the 1000 block of Lindenleaf Drive reported that someone stole a garage door opener and some coins from inside a Jeep SUV that had been left unlocked while parked in a driveway between 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 and 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 4.
- Someone rummaged through an unlocked BMW SUV between 1 and 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 4 at the end of a driveway in the 2700 block of Park Lane, stealing a phone charger.
SHOPLIFTING
The manager of a store in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 that a male shoplifter had stolen an iPhone worth $1,100 from the business and left on foot shortly before police were called.

ARRESTS
Alberto Kamber, 30, of the 9300 block of Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. on Feb. 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding 35 mph or more above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
Daniel Finnegan, 53, of the 900 block of Greenwood Road, Glenview, was arrested at noon on Feb. 4 at the Glenview Police Department on a charge of retail theft related to a Nov. 14, 2018, incident that occurred in the 3300 block of Glenview Road.
Hooman Afshin, 43, of the 1400 block of Howard Street, Evanston, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with domestic battery in connection with an incident earlier that morning in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. After Skokie police learned where the incident had taken place, they contacted Glenview police, who took custody of Afshin before he was taken to court for a bond hearing.
