Garage Door Opener Used To Steal 2 Cars: Blotter
Angry customer banned from restaurant, shoplifter banned from store, 2 charged with DUI crashes: Glenview police blotter, Jan. 17 - Jan. 29

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. INCIDENTS
BURGLARS STEAL TWO CARS FROM GARAGES
Sometime between midnight and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 16, thieves got into an unlocked SUV parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Hunter Road and apparently used a garage door opener to get into a resident's garage, which contained two vehicles with their keys inside. A Hyundai and Acura worth nearly $60,000 were reported stolen.

- Someone spray painted on construction signs in the 300 block of Harlem Avenue sometime between 8 a.m. Jan. 14 and 8 a.m. Jan. 15.
- Someone vandalized the back of a stop sign at the intersection of Montgomery Lane and Colfax Avenue at some point prior to Jan. 18.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Two cars were ransacked between 1 and 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 16 while parked at a home in the 1100 block of Arbor Lane.
- After hearing voices coming from the street around 1:30 a.m., a resident of the 600 block of Echo Lane reported someone burglarized an unlocked car, stealing about $20 in cash and coins.
- Someone stole power tools from inside an unlocked van parked at a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard between 3:30 and 4 p.m. on Jan. 17.
- Someone broke the front passenger side window of a Toyota parked at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road between about 5 and 5:15 p.m., stealing a purse containing sunglasses for a loss of more than $300.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

- A resident in the 1200 block of 12th Street reported someone did $200 in damaged to their SUV, shattering its rear window and pulling its door handles from its doors between 10 p.m. on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16.
- A resident in the 1200 block of 12th Street reported on Jan. 16 that someone had done $400 in damage to the windshields of two parked vehicles with what appeared to be some type of BB gun in late December 2018.
- Three work vans were damaged between 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 and 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 22, with no property stolen. Windows were broken in two and a driver's side door lock was punched in on another. The repair cost was not immediately known.
FORGERY ATTEMPT
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported on Jan. 16 that a man had come into the store and tried to purchase about $1,800 worth of computers and other electronics with what appeared to be a fraudulent check.
DELIVERY DRIVER DAMAGE
A resident in the 1300 block of Pleasant Lane reported they had a package delivered to their home. A delivery driver was reportedly seen dropping off the package, taking a different package from the front porch and leaving the scene in a white van that caused $200 in damage as it left the garage.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone pried open the front door of a home in the 4500 block of Concord Lane between Jan. 9 and Jan. 18 and ransacked the interior and causing $500 in damage. It did not appear anything was taken.
HIT-AND-RUN VERSUS FENCE
About 6 feet of fencing was damaged in the 3500 block of Countryside Lane between 4 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 21. with tire tracks suggesting a vehicle hit a fence, and caused $500 in damage.
SHOPLIFTING REPORTS
- An employee of a store in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported a woman stole a Michael Kors purse around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 after hiding it under her coat for a loss of $219.
- Officers were called to a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road for a report that a woman was seen on surveillance video hiding $62 worth of clothing and cosmetics in her purse before leaving in a white car.
- An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported around 11 a.m. on Jan. 25 that a woman had come into the store and attempted to walk out while hiding two shirts worth about $400. Staff recovered the shirts and the woman was banned from the store.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY ATTEMPT
An activated alarm at a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road revealed someone had shattered both glass entrance doors, causing $500 in damage. The burglars were blocked from entering by a metal gate, and no suspects were identified at the scene.
MAN BANNED FROM RESTAURANT
Police were called to a restaurant in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road for a dispute between staff and a customer angry about his order. The business reportedly "attempted to exchange the order but the male was still not satisfied." Police warned the man he was banned from the restaurant and could be arrested for trespassing should he return.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- Between December 2018 and January 2019, someone used the identity of a Glenview resident to make $562.04 in unauthorized payments to Capital One Bank and a Planet Fitness.
- Someone made a $2,000 purchase using instant credit on a Best Buy credit card opened at a store in Geneva using the identity of a Glenview resident, who reported it to police on Jan. 22.
- Staff at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported on Jan. 28 that a woman placed a phone order using a fraudulent credit card for two pairs of boots worth $417.06 on Jan. 9, with a man picking them up in person the same day.
BATTERY
An angry customer at a store in the 2300 block of Capital Drive poked an employee in the chest as he was being escorted out after reportedly threatening other staff members. He was gone by the time officers arrived.
STOLEN VEHICLE FOUND
Dolton police reported a vehicle stolen from the 700 block of Hunter Road on Jan. 16 was recovered with "severe damage" on 144th Street and towed to an impound lot in Dixmoor. The level of damage was not known at the time of the report.

ARRESTS
James Gatto, 33, of the 1200 block of Greenwood Road, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 16 and charged with violation of bail bond after officers determined he was at his home in violation of a court order.
Batmunkh Bat-Ochir, 54, of the 900 block of 139th Avenue, Bellevue, Washington, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 22 following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more and ticketed for improper lane usage.
Angela Martinez, 38,m of the 2700 block of West Roosevelt Road, Chicago, was processed around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the Skokie Courthouse on a charge of financial identity theft in connection with an incident that occurred on Aug. 28, 2018, at a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road.
Monika Kurpiel, 42, of the 3600 block of Nora Avenue, Chicago, was processed around 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 26 at the Will County Jail on a retail theft warrant connected to a 2007 Glenview case.
Julia E. Millonzi, 36, of the 1000 block of Wilke Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Jan. 26 following an investigation into her involvement in a traffic crash at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Castilian Court. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more and issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a Toyota she was driving rear-ended a Ford van.
Lavontae L. Allen, 26, of the 3700 block of Salem Walk, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 27 following an investigation into his involvement in a traffic crash at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Sanders Road. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more and issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a car he was driving left the road and crashed into a snow bank.
