5 Homes Broken Into; Drunk Driving, Hit-And-Run Charges: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Glenview Police Department blotter from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
BAD CHECK
A store employee in the 3300 block of West Lake Avenue reported around 11 a.m. on Dec. 11 that someone had purchased a gift package with a check that later bounced from a closed account. The reported loss was $825.
SHOPLIFTING
A store employee at a business in the 3300 block of Glenview Road reported around 1 p.m. on Dec. 11 that a man appeared to be walking out of the store concealing stolen merchandise. He was described as a 50-year-old, 6 feet, 1 inches tall, 300-pound white man wearing a blue winter cap and blue puffy winter jacket with gray on the side. He took off walking southbound on Greenwood Road. The total loss was not known at the time of the report.

HOME BURGLARIES
- Someone broke a basement window and ransacked a master bedroom of a home between 8:15 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. on Dec. 11, a resident in the 2400 block of Briarford Lane reported. A watch, a ring and various other pieces of jewelry worth $2,300 were reported stolen.
- Someone pried open a patio door and ransacked several rooms of a house between 9:10 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. on Dec. 11, a resident in the 3800 block of Lizette Lane reported. A wallet and its contents were reported stolen for a loss of $200.
- A resident in the 1900 block of George Court reported that someone rummaged through their bedroom between 7 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 13, leaving the front door open. A large doggie door may have been the entry point, and the resident reported nothing of value was taken.
- Someone broke in through a side door to a house in the 1000 block of Crystal Court between Dec. 1 and Dec. 13 and searched through every room in the house, stealing cash, jewelry and wine for a loss of $3,700.
- A pry tool and brute force was used to enter a home through a garage door in the back between 3:40 and 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 14, a resident in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue reported.
THEFT
A resident of the 300 block of Glenview Road reported around 7 p.m. on Dec. 12 that their financial adviser had been stealing money from their accounts.

BOMB THREAT HOAX
Two employees of a car dealership in the 2000 block of Waukegan Road reported around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 that they had gotten an email at work warning about a bomb and demanding Bitcoin. The hoax emails were received by many other businesses and institutions around the state and nationwide. Read more...
ASSAULTS
Around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, a Northbrook resident reported someone had chased them into a business in the 2300 block of Capital Drive, asking if they wanted to fight. A store employee asked the man, described as a 35- to 45-year-old, 5-foot, 11-inch tall white man wearing a green hoodie, to leave the store and he did. No charges were filed.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
The owner of a business in the 1800 block of Elmdale Avenue reported around 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 that a woman had pulled up next to their car as they were leaving the business. The woman said she was "the daughter of an unknown person and called then an 'a-----' and a 'f-----,'" and as they drove away they noticed the woman driving in the opposite direction along Greenwood Road and believed she may have thrown something at the car. No damage was found.
TRESPASSING
Staff at a business in the first block of Waukegan Road reported around 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 that a person was inside the business who had previously been warned not to enter any of the store's locations in connection with an earlier incident in Northbrook. The trespasser filled up a shopping with merchandise but left the store before police arrived.
CAR BURGLARY
A Glenview resident reported on Dec. 17 that someone stole their checkbook from an unlocked car while parked outside a business in the 1400 block of Patriot Boulevard between noon and 12:10 p.m. that day. A credit card was stolen and police learned $10,000 in fraudulent charges were made at an unknown location.

ARRESTS
David Kohl, 44, of the 3200 block of Harrison Street, Glenview, was arrested around 6:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of North Kolmar Avenue, Chicago, and charged with failure to report a change of address as a sex offender. The Illinois State Police said he had not provided notification of his change of address after being classified as a sexual predator for life after the sexual abuse of a 16 year old when he was 36.
A 29-year-old Prospect Heights man was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
A 26-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 10 p.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and also cited for an expired registration following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
Shari Hellerman, 38, of the 2500 block of Indian Ridge Drive, Glenview, was arrested around 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 13 following an investigation into a Dec. 2 traffic crash in the 2100 block of Shermer Road. She was charged with failure to give aid or information and ticketed for failure to exercise due care to avoid an crash.
Michael Bristow, 30, of the 2200 block of Tanglewood Drive, Glenview, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and charged with criminal damage to less than $500 worth of property following an investigation into a report of a broken car window.
Adrian Tkaczuk, 22, of the 900 block of Hunter Road, Glenview, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Dec. 14 at his home and charged with domestic battery.
Jay Barron, 28, of the first block of Park Lane, Golf, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Dec. 16 at his home and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident to police and ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash.
