6 DUI Arrests; Computer, Contractor, Loan Scams Reported: Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations. Everyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 1:08 p.m. on June 26 that someone had stolen lip balm from a store for a reported loss of $8.

DISPUTE
An employee in the 1500 block of Paddock Drive reported at 2:16 p.m. on June 2 that someone had failed to provide titles for vehicles they had recently purchased.

THEFT
A customer in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 4:33 p.m. on June 26 that someone stole their wallet while they were shopping for a loss of $60.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:51 a.m. on June 27 that someone had stolen cigarettes for a loss of $25.

LOAN SCAM
A customer in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 1:05 p.m. on June 27 that a woman approached them in the parking lot of a business and befriended them. The woman borrowed more than $3,000 and never paid it back, police were told.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 6 a.m. on June 28 that a customer had placed a threatening call call.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2500 block of Independence Avenue reported at 8:10 a.m. on June 28 that someone had done $100 damage to a retractable fence post.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Ronald Road resident reported around 9 a.m. on June 28 that someone fraudulently filed their IRS tax return and cashed a refund check without authorization for a loss of $3,400.

CONTRACTOR SCAM
An employee in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue reported at 11:19 a.m. in June 28 that a contractor never showed up to do remodeling work as contracted for a loss of $6,000.

COMPUTER SCAM
A resident in the 200 block of Parkview Road reported at 12:43 p.m. on June 28 that they had gotten a phone call purporting to come from a computer service and scammed them out of $3,000 for “work” that was never performed.

FORGERY
A resident in the 3600 block of Liberty Lane reported at 12:26 p.m. on June 29 that someone had cashed a $4,500 retirement check sent through the mail.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS
A homeowner in the 300 block of Parkview Road reported at 7:23 p.m. on June 29 that four people had been on their property without permission.

BURGLARY
A patron at a park in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive reported at 8:37 p.m. on June 29 that a purse with its contents were stolen from their unsecured vehicle for a loss of $110.

BURGLARY
A resident in the 100 block of Lincoln Street reported at 9:47 a.m. on June 30 that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and scattered the contents.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Colfax Avenue resident reported at 4 p.m. on June 30 that someone had fraudulently purchased an unknown amount of merchandise after intercepting a new credit card sent through the mail.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 200 block of Washington Street reported at 4:28 p.m. on June 30 that someone rummaged through two unlocked vehicles parked on the driveway during the overnight hours.

CAR BURGLARY
A park patron in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive reported at 5:41 p.m. on June 30 that someone had shattered the rear passenger window on their vehicle in the parking lot and stole a purse for a loss of $1,300.

CAR BURGLARY
A patron of a park in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive reported at 6:02 p.m. on June 30 that someone had shattered the rear passenger window on their vehicle in the parking lot and stole a purse for a reported loss of $2,500.

THEFT
A customer in the 1500 block of Greenwood Road reported at 6:39 p.m. on June 30 that someone took their cellular telephone from a room for a loss of $850.

PHONE SCAM
A Chestnut Avenue resident reported at 10:03 a.m. on July 1 that someone talked them out of $3,000 over the phone before they realized it was a scam.

THEFT
A customer in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported at 2:38 p.m. on July 1 that someone had stolen a wallet and cellphone from a locked locker for a loss of $730.

THEFT
A customer in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported at 2:48 p.m. on July 1 that someone had removed a lock from a locker, stole a wallet from inside and used credit cards to purchase $1,500 merchandise.

CURFEW
A pair of 15-year-old boys or girls were ticketed for walking in the 1600 block of Glenview Road at 1:44 a.m. on July 2.

BATTERY
A guest in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 7:44 a.m. on July 2 that two men got out of a car and punched him in the head while he was walking in the parking lot.

THEFT
A customer in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported at 8:34 a.m. on July 2 that someone had removed a lock from a locker and stole a wallet from inside for a loss of $115.

DRUNK AND DISORDERLY
An employee in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 12:45 p.m. on July 2 that an intoxicated guest yelled and swore at employees.

DISORDERLY AT SUPERMARKET
An employee in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:03 a.m. on July 2 that a customer had started yelling while in the checkout line after being denied free food.

UNLICENSED SOLICITING
A caller reported at 8:01 p.m. on July 2 that someone had been soliciting in the 1200 block of Pleasant Lane without a village permit.


ARRESTS

Ronald Bisanz, 61, of the 1700 block of MacLean Court in Glenview, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. on June 26 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Seung Yeo, 51, of the 1700 block of Dundee Road in Northbrook, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. on June 27 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Alfonso Marquez-Sanchez, 30, of the 800 block of Valley Stream Avenue in Wheeling, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. on June 27 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more following a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

A 40-year-old Prospect Heights woman was arrested at 8:38 p.m. on June 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license in the 3800 block of Willow Road following a traffic stop.

Alton Shears, 61, of the 200 block of Nauvoo Street in Park Forest, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. on June 28 and charged with identity theft following an investigation into an April 30 theft in the 2200 block of Willow Road.

Song Lee, 32, of the 4700 block of Lamon Avenue in Chicago was arrested at 1:29 a.m. on June 30 in the 9600 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for improper lane usage.

Maria Enriques-Escobedo, 35, of the 5000 block of West Cullom Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. on June 30 in the 9600 block of Milwaukee Avenue following a traffic stop and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above. She was also ticketed for speeding between 15 and 20 mph over the limit and improper lane usage.

A 32-year-old St. Louis, Missouri man was arrested at 4 a.m. on July 1 in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving with no valid driver’s license and improper lane use.
