ADHD, Depression, or Both?

Numerous studies have shown links between children who are diagnosed with ADHD and later depression, especially during adolescence. As a result, these teens and young adults are at a greater risk for dangerous behavior and suicide. A lot of this stems from impulse control issues, which is symptomatic of ADHD. Parents of children with ADHD should be aware of these issues in order to help their child through their personal difficulties, as well as life's adversities.

To know more about the possible links between ADHD and depression, and what to do when your child is diagnosed with the former, check out Dr. Clatch's "What's Happening!" article on Determining the Right Diagnosis.
