
John Francis Regis Gleason, M. D. died at his Glenview residence March 3. Dr. Gleason was born June 12, 1924 in Denver. He graduated from Saint Catherine Grade School and Regis High School in Denver. In 1942 he won a scholarship to Regis College, where he matriculated for a year.
In 1943 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy V-12 program. He studied at Carroll College in Helena, Montana and received his Bachelors degree in mathematics from the University of Washington in Seattle. As a Lieutenant naval officer during World War II, Dr. Gleason commissioned the landing ship LSM 38. Following his release from the Navy, Dr. Gleason continued his education by receiving his medical degree in 1952 from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Following his residency in orthopedics, Dr. Gleason practiced for a period of 40 years. He touched many lives during his time at what started as Scuderi, Gleason & Loughran.
Since 1963 he was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Glenview.

Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Loyola Marie Gleason nee Nichols; Gleason was father of Tom, M.D. (Mina Leon) Gleason, Loyola Marie Gleason, D.D.S. (Richard Pasiewicz, D.D.S.), Anna (Dan) Durkin, Colleen (John) Sanguinetti, Noreen Noonan and Francine (Bob) McCabe; grandfather of John, Michael and Madison Gleason; Richard, Loyola and Ryan Pasiewicz; Anna and Sam Durkin; Patrick, Keely, Colleen, and Michael Noonan, Meghan, Kayla, Bob, Clare, Mike, Colleen, Matt and Kelsey McCabe; dear brother of Paul and Kevin (Virginia) Gleason and the late James (Rosemary), Thomas (the late Rose) and Leo Gleason; brother-in-law of Francis, M.D. (Rita) Nichols; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sr. Paulanne’s Needy Family Fund, c/o Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, IL 60025 would be appreciated.
