Animal Rescue Benefit's 10th Anniversary Helps Displaced, Homeless Pets
There'll be music, food and a raffle Saturday, with all donations going to support local shelters sending help to the Houston area.

WAUKEGAN, IL — The Cause for Paws event began a decade ago in a small bar as a benefit for local animal rescue groups, and it's since grown to average more than 300 attendees annually, according to the Lake County News-Sun. This year's benefit is set to be the biggest yet, due to the overwhelming need left in the wake of recent severe weather. Local rescue organizations started taking in animals from the Houston area last weekend, and the money raised from this year's Cause for Paws fundraiser will go to those groups, organizer Cari Clark told the paper.
Cause for Paws is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Harbor's Edge in Waukegan. There will be music, vendors, a raffle, food and drink specials. A $10 cover charge also will get you a free drink token.
All proceeds benefit local animal rescue groups including Glenview's Black Dog Rescue, Waukegan Animals Getting Saved and Fat Cat Rescue in North Chicago. According to the events organizer, those groups are sending needed goods to help animals who need help at the scene of Harvey's devastation.
