Here's an interesting blurb from the ADA Morning Huddle. We suggest keeping an eye on the boomers in your life - good nutrition leads to better overall health. Regular cleanings at the dentist are a huge part of staying healthy - especially at this time of the year when colds are rampant!
US Population Eating Less Often, Data Indicate.
NBC News (10/16, Sherman) reports that amid a national “obesity problem,” new data show “people in the US are eating less often” and are “more likely to have their meals and snacks at home and not out.” The number of average “consumption occasions” has decreased since 2008, NBC says, because “boomers have entered a time of life when people typically reduce their eating, bringing down the national average.” While millennials are “in the period of life where they increase eating...they still don’t make up for the baby boomers who are on the down side,” the article adds. Dietitian nutritionist Lauri Wright stated that older adults need fewer calories than young adults. In addition, “psychosocial factors,” such depression and loneliness, “can contribute to reduced eating.”
