Arrest Made In Fatal Glenview Hit-And-Run From August
Ewelina Pikulska is accused of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. A nationwide warrant led to an arrest in Florida.
GLENVIEW, IL — A Des Plaines woman, accused of leaving the scene of an accident involving death in Glenview, has been located. Ewelina Pikulska, 40, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Oct. 27, in Okaloosa County, Florida, on a nationwide warrant stemming from an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Wheeling man in August.
Trinidad Salgado, 59, was riding his bicycle during the early morning hours of Aug. 21, when he was struck by a car near Sanders Road and South Parkway Drive. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation by the Glenview Police Department revealed Pikulska's whereabouts, according to a news release. Pikulska was taken into custody by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting extradition to Illinois.
