Barricaded Stabbing Suspect Arrested By SWAT Team In Glenview
Police said the man barricaded himself in his apartment after a stabbing outside a Waukegan Road liquor store.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Glenview man barricaded himself in his apartment Wednesday after a stabbing outside a liquor store, police said.
Following an hourslong standoff with a suburban SWAT team, the man was arrested and taken to the Glenview Police Department, where he was being held Thursday pending criminal charges, according to police.
Officers were dispatched for a report that someone had been stabbed outside Glenview Liquors, 1214 Waukegan Road, shortly before 5:30 p.m., police said.

They found a man suffering from an puncture wound to his hand, and they learned the man suspected of stabbing him had fled into his apartment nearby. The stab wound was not considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
Officers made repeated attempts to speak with the barricaded man and talk him into voluntarily leaving. They were not successful, police said.

So Glenview police called in the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, or NIPAS, Emergency Services Team, which brought an armored SWAT-style truck to the scene. A loudspeaker on the truck could be heard broadcasting requests to surrender.
Shortly before 1 a.m., heavily armed NIPAS team members emerged with the man in custody, his hands cuffed behind his back. Video from the scene showed he struggled briefly but soon appeared more subdued before police transported him away.
As of Thursday afternoon, no charges had yet been filed, and the man remained in lockup at the Glenview Police Department, police said.
