Before Beginning Therapy...

It is important to have a clear picture of what your goals and expectations are before beginning therapy. The best way to start is to research the kind of therapist you'd like to have - for students, school counselors are a great resource - and address your issues and needs at your first therapy session. This will help both you and the therapist figure out your role as a patient, and how they can best suit your needs. It will also help the therapist determine whether or not they are the right therapist for you. In some cases, a therapist may decide that your care may be better managed by another therapist or specialist. Remember that your therapy should be about you; if your needs aren't being met, then you might not be getting the type of therapy you need to continue your path to wellness.

If you or a loved one is thinking about pursuing therapy in the coming months and would like to know more about the process, please feel free to click here to visit the Courage to Connect website.
