It is important to know the difference between a bribe and a reward when dealing with children. A bribe is typically offered in desperation when a parent becomes frustrated with their child's behavior. A reward, on the other hand, is something that is established in advance to provide your child with an incentive to complete a task or engage in appropriate behavior. Using rewards instead of bribes enables you to control your frustration as well as your child's.
